I am Shubham Varma, from Kalyan, Maharashtra, India, currently pursuing my B.Tech in Information Technology with Honors in AI at K.J Somaiya College of Engineering. I have a strong background in machine learning and extensive experience in the field. Alongside my studies, I have actively engaged in research projects and have successfully published two research papers. Additionally, I have participated in prestigious hackathons, earning recognition as the winner of Smart India Hackathon 2022 and a finalist in the UNESCO-India-Africa Hackathon. In 2023, I had the honor of being among the Top 15 participants in the Coursera Employment Hackathon. My passion for AI and ML has led me to become a Fellow at 11th IASNLP 2022 and attend the 6th and 7th CVIT Summer School on AI at IIIT Hyderabad. Moreover, I hold the title of AWS AI&ML Scholar, Beta Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador, and serve as a Lead Mentor at SMLRA.

● Contributing significantly to the development of the Ryze.ai platform, an AI-enabled ecosystem.

Research Intern at CFILT Lab - IIT Bombay
● Research intern under Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya working on various NLP based research projects.
● Currently working on Unsupervised Pivot Based Neural Machine Translation, for conversion of one language to another using a pivot language embeddings

Lead Mentor - Somaiya Machine Learning Research Association (SMLRA)
● Lead a team of 12 and contributed to the acceleration of collaboration among students of our college in Artificial Intelligence (AI) research and development. Took sessions on latest trends topics related to AI and machine learning (ML), which helped to educate and engage members of the community.
● Collaborated with the SMLRA team on research papers, which facilitated knowledge sharing and strengthened research capabilities among the community.
Beta Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador - Microsoft
● Contributed to building a thriving community of like-minded students, developers, and tech enthusiasts by promoting and taking workshops on the latest technologies and industry trends. Communicated and collaborated with Microsoft professionals, community leaders, and fellow ambassadors to identify and address the needs of the student community.
R&D Team Head - Team KJSCE ROBOCON
● Managed the Image Processing and MATLAB department of Team KJSCE ROBOCON. Contributed to the team's achievement of AIR-6 in the DD ROBOCON national competition organized by IIT Delhi.
● Developed and implemented several Deep Learning models to enhance the team's performance in the competition. Demonstrated expertise in Image Processing and MATLAB to solve technical problems faced by the team.

Recent Work

Feature based Machine Translation Evaluation
● Designed and implemented an NLP-based deep learning algorithm for speech-to-speech machine translation evaluation at IIIT-H Advanced Summer School on NLP (IASNLP-2022).
● Utilized zero-shot learning to evaluate machine-translated sentences and fine-tuned weights to improve correlation with human ratings. Collaborated with professors from the Language Technologies Research Centre for guidance and mentorship.
● Improved translation quality by refining the algorithm based on evaluation results.
● Developed strong skills in NLP, deep learning, and machine translation.

Brain Tumor Detection (UIA Project - Runner Up)
● Headed a team of 6 in developing a Brain Tumor Detection system during UIA Hackathon 2022.
● Developed deep learning computer vision-based models for detecting brain tumors and identifying their type and size.
● Achieved high speed and accuracy of 99.6% by leveraging advanced algorithms and optimizing computational efficiency

ECG Digitization
This is a research based project cum Internship. It is capable of Digitializing i.e extracting signal even if the photo of the ECG is blurred or contaains any sort of noise. With the help of this application we can save life of the person by giving crucial information about the ECG in crucial times.
